This Safeway is ok but it's probably not the best of them. Produce and meat is usually not the freshest. They often run out of certain items that you need. Customer service is good. The store is kept clean and organized.
There are more sales here than you would think. Make sure to use the Safeway app to take advantage of scan deals, and also some specials that they will send you as loss leader items to get you in the store. You can save quite a bit by using those.
The place had few customers but you wouldn't know it by the service, or lack of it this evening. It took quite awhile to get a simple glass of water, even longer for the appetizer. The food wasn't hot and fresh so it seems it was sitting for a bit before making it to our table. The French fries were rancid. Not once did anyone ask if we needed more water or napkins.
Absolutely love the Mililani Marketplace Safeway store and have faithfully shoped there for over 23 years. Cathy was my register staff today. She is incredible. Cathy is always friendly, helpful, polite, courteous, caring, knowledgeable, and one of the many reasons I do the majority of my families grocery shopping at this store. The store is always clean, neat, user-friendly and affordable. My sincerest kudos to Store Manager, Gary Chun also, who always manages with perfection and care. Mr. Chun always goes " above and beyond the call of duty" to greet the customers, personally walk you to find groceries and does a magnificent job. "Thank You " Safeway, for being an essential part of my life and of my family.
When we were leaving, the cashier asked how was everything. When the answer was, not so good, she proceeded to tell us how much the bill was without even acknowledging we were not satisfied. Obviously customer satisfaction is not important to them. Well, they don't have to worry about that, because these customers are not stepping foot in there again.
The tiny floral shop in the corner when you first enter on the far right entrance provides a surprisingly great amount of customer service. They do helium-filled mylar balloons, custom arrangements, and bouquets. Reasonable prices, and very nice suggestions.

I actually feel bad for the deli people when it's $5 Friday and the chicken goes on sale. The simple laws of physics do not allow for more chicken to be cooked at one time than is safe. And it's a popular item. Unless there's a complete revamping of the kitchen and the deli takes over at least twice as much space, I don't see it getting any better anytime soon. Best bet is to go in early, about noon if you can, and pick it up. Other than that, if you plan to do this in the evening on $5 Friday, head for the deli first, put your name in, and then do your shopping. Wait time is anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, so be prepared. They will try to tell you the time so you know when to head back to the deli counter. However, kudos to the deli people for trying to put the best face on it they can. They are genuinely pleasant, if you're reasonably decent to them.
This Safeway took some getting used to, but now I love it. Customer service is wonderful, and if you go early, and check the dairy case, you'll find some terrific deals. Be sure to use things quickly on those deals though, because they are short-term. There's a very lovely woman named Judy, I believe, who works in that section, who's always willing to help. I have gone in to ask for help with items, and they were sold out on $5 Friday, but that's not unusual at any Safeway anywhere on Oahu. The cashier will write you up a rain check. The bakery area also has nice customer service, and they do their best. It's a very busy section.
Restroom available, but it isn't exactly your sparkling clean as home kind of restroom. If you're desperate, yeah, this is okay. At least it's here, and you don't have to turn in your ID or firstborn to use it, like at other grocery stores in this area.
Recommend for the excellent customer service, and for the more frequent deals.
